A day in the life of a LFE driver is a strict and methodical one, but one which guarantees the quality and reliability we stand for.
Our drivers are masters of their process and take pride in making the same checks and procedures day in, day out to maintain a safe and fast delivery of your refrigerated products.
The location may differ from a delivery-only a ten-minute drive away to a location hundreds of miles away from our transport team’s base in Leeds, but the steps we take to ensure quality and safety remain the same.

The Night Before
A refrigerated delivery doesn’t start on the day for us; we’re already planning our delivery the night before to ensure we can get your packages and parcels to you on time.
Our driver starts by meticulously pre-planning their route of travel into the state-of-the-art Paragon Routing System we use for all our deliveries.
Paragon picks the quickest route possible and cuts out any unnecessary mileage, which benefits both us in terms of our fuel costs, you, the customer in terms of your shortened delivery time and our environment due to the reduced CO2 emissions.
You’ll also receive a confirmation of your expected ETA (estimated time of arrival) the night before so you know what time to expect us with your delivery.
Of course, the driver will also make sure to get a good night’s sleep too. If a driver isn’t well-rested, they won’t be alert and their job could become dangerous, especially as they are driving all day. We recommend that our drivers try and get 8 hours of good sleep before they start their deliveries to make sure they’re not tired. A few of our drivers have recently had to change their mattresses as they were struggling to sleep properly for a while. They eventually decided to get a new mattress after reading a Sleep Republic Mattress Review. Now, these drivers are sleeping for much longer, ensuring that they are driving and delivering to a much better standard.
Pre-check of Vehicle and Safety Check
The first thing all our drivers will do on the delivery day is carry out a mandatory pre-check of their vehicles and a safety check. This ensures that the vehicle is in good enough condition to do these deliveries. This also increases the safety of the driver.
However, despite these safety measures, accidents can still occur. If an accident does occur, the drivers could always consider contacting a Bakersfield personal injury attorney to fight their case, especially if the accident wasn’t their fault.
Unfortunately, the roads can be a dangerous place, and therefore it is important to take as many steps to prevent an accident from occurring as possible. Accidents involving larger vehicles like vans and trucks can have devastating consequences, especially if a driver is injured.
With this in mind, it is important to be aware of your legal rights if you are ever unlucky enough to be involved in an accident with a large vehicle. Accordingly, if you would like to learn more about what to do in the aftermath of an accident on the road, reaching out to a personal injury law specialist is almost always for the best.
Correspondingly, when it comes to finding a truck accident lawyer Springfield and other major cities all over the world are home to legal professionals who can provide the support that you need. No one should have to suffer in silence after an accident, and asking a legal professional for help is nothing to be ashamed of.
Above all, this is why safety checks are so important. These checks involve everything from checking there’s enough fuel in the tank to checking the loading temperature of the van to ensure that the temperature is right for the respective load to be carried, whatever it may be.
LF&E invest heavily into temperature mapping of their vehicles to ensure the highest compliance is achieved. You can read more on our temperature mapping process here.

Loading Up
After they’ve checked their refrigerated van is ready to go, our driver’s next port of call is to load the vehicle.
They do so by splitting the goods into their correct compartments, of which there are three; ambient, chilled and frozen. All goods are carefully checked for their storage requirements and secured in the van.
Start the Delivery
Once the van’s been loaded and the route planned out, our driver will set off. They’ll have access to their route and destination at all times, fully tracked by the Paragon tracking system for a fast, efficient, eco-friendly delivery.
Arrival
Once our refrigerated delivery driver has arrived with you, they’ll adhere to our SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) to make sure that your delivery is going to its intended recipient. Learn more about how we uphold SOPs here.
This includes a name check to ensure we’re with the right person, identification checks and following any special instructions we may have received from you on our delivery note.
Our driver will require a secure signature for POD (proof of delivery) after which they’ll relay the status of now completed delivery to our HQ so we know the package has been safely delivered.
This is the same for failed deliveries too; our drivers will update the delivery status about any packages that haven’t gone out so that we can take the appropriate action of contacting you to rearrange.
The End of the Day
At the end of the day our driver will go through a standard debrief process.
This includes the driver relaying the delivery status back to HQ and the reasons for a failed delivery as well as providing a temperature trace report. See how LF&E reduce failed deliveries for its clients here.
This report is taken directly from the vehicle temperature recorder so we know that your delivery was kept at its required temperature throughout its journey to you, guaranteeing the integrity of your product has been maintained and that your package reaches you in the perfect condition that you expect from us.
This reading is taken from our high-quality transcan temperature recorders too so there’s no chance of a malfunction or an incorrect reading.
So there you have it – a day in the life of an LF&E delivery driver. This rigorous and regimented practice can be demanding at times, but we wouldn’t have it any other way. See how we at LF&E employ specialist drivers and train them to the highest standards.
Our drivers are proud of their craft and are more than aware that we often deliver products that can be of vital importance to the health and wellbeing of our customers; it’s for this exact reason they carry out our standard procedure every day they come to work.
To guarantee you a fast, safe and reliable delivery first time, every time.
