LF&E Values
Working in the medical field, LF&E need strong values and know that a lot of people rely on us for items that will improve their quality of life. Whether it’s taking prescription items to home care patients, delivering flu vaccines, or transporting samples to and from clinical trials, everyone who works with us knows that there is a lot of responsibility and trust on our shoulders.
From our executives to our drivers, we have to make sure that we know what’s going on from our drivers, who cover the length and breadth of the UK, to those who work at our depots and people who manage the Paragon mapping software we use.
Our core values are easy to define: LF&E pride ourselves on our operational excellence with deliveries on time, every time.
Operational Excellence Focus
LF&E know our vans might be called upon by our clients and partners to transport different drugs which require different temperatures; we might even be asked to transport human tissue or blood for transport.
Part of operational excellence is understanding what we can do to help our partners.
Critical Goods Transport
For example, the transport of organs or blood gives our drivers a very narrow window to complete the delivery. Cell death occurs even at optimum temperatures and if too much time elapses organs become unusable.
Drivers are made aware of their crucial cargo and take important steps to preserve it, including keeping to a specially mapped route due to our Paragon system, or keeping in touch with operators who are tracking their van in case of any deviations to the route or problems ahead.
The LF&E Driver Difference
Operational excellence begins with our drivers. We do not hire temporary contract drivers at LF&E; our deliveries are too important to be taken by a driver who is not fully trained in our processes.
As drivers will make a large number of different deliveries in a typical week, including to potentially vulnerable home care patients, they must be DBS checked.
They are trained to provide a genuine service with warmth and politeness, which means putting the needs of the customer before anything else. If home care providers need a parcel delivered to a specific room in their house, our drivers will perform that role under strict controls of across the threshold compliance.
if a customer suffers from eye problems and needs someone to help catalogue their medication, our drivers will perform a medication rotation service for them before setting their new batch in the temperature-controlled location they need.
Our drivers receive full briefs for each delivery they make. As they often deliver complex equipment, pharmaceutical drugs and medical supplies to labs and surgeries, they need to have an extra level of understanding about their delivery in case of human error.
If human error is found and detected, our drivers know that they can seamlessly speak to operators at our head office to correct the error before they can compound and become bigger. If a parcel is mislabelled or there is a missing portion of the order, our drivers know how important it is to fix the problem as soon as possible.
Deliveries On Time, Every Time
Because of the tight schedules that many medical centres are often running on, there is simply not space for a late delivery. A delivery that comes late could potentially have rendered the contents unusable because of the extra time spent in transit; it may suffer because those who had been picked to assist the driver have other responsibilities they have to attend to.
Our fleet of refrigerated vehicles are all connected using Paragon’s transport planning software. Each of our fleet of vehicles is also equipped with trackers and remote temperature monitoring in order to exceed current industry standards.
State of the Art Systems
These state of the art systems not only helps to ensure deliveries are made on time, it also protects LF&E’s highly trained drivers. If they suffer a breakdown, operators are instantly aware and can dispatch someone to help; in cases where a receipt may have been misplaced, LF&E can provide proof to reassure their partners of the exact nature of the delivery.
Home care patients do not have to plan their lives around deliveries on a specific day. Our mapping software allows us to send messages to those patients, giving them a timeframe for when they can expect their deliveries. This allows them to live their lives safe in the knowledge that they won’t miss their delivery of medication or other items.
LF&E Making a Real Difference
LF&E are extremely proud of what we accomplish every day. Our chosen work can be challenging and require incredibly close attention, but we know that we are making a difference.

Whatever we do and whatever we deliver, it’s the patients who are our highest priority. They’re the ones the medicines are for, so it’s imperative they receive quality every step of the way.
